As two of the top agility instructors, Greg & Laura Derrett conduct seminars worldwide covering all levels of handling and training in Competition Dog Agility. Greg has been involved in the sport of dog agility since the late 1980's whilst Laura, originally from America, has been a professional dog trainer since 1993 specialising in Agility since 2000. Some of the highlights of Greg's long running, prestigious agility career: Greg began competing in 1990 and by 1991 had won Junior handler of the year in Great Britain with his first dog Hettie, a Golden Retriever cross Border collie. Hettie went on to be highly successful winning several national finals including the Individual at Crufts in 1994. Complimenting Greg's success in the agility ring, Greg completed an Advanced Studies Diploma in Animal Behaviour. Greg has become widely popular as a seminar presenter and has travelled all over the world from N Zealand and Australia, throughout Europe, Japan and all of N America. Laura started her agility career in 1998 when she began her own agility centre, CDogsFly Agility in Turlock California. Laura competed in the US with 3 her dogs, Josie a golden retriever and Fly and Fish her 2 border collies. All 3 dogs qualified for Master levels in the US before Laura moved to the UK. Fish had to start again in the novice level and quickly progressed up to the highest levels in both KC and UKA. Fish has qualified and competed in the singles final at Crufts and the agility stakes final at Olympia. He has also represented GB at the 2008 European Open and won the UK Agility Grand Prix Final in 2008. Laura’s young dog Spider born in 2007 is just beginning his agility career and is quickly progressing through the levels at both UKA and KC agility. Greg and Laura were the Team Manager/Coach(es) for Great Britain's team at the IFCS World Agility Championships in 2006 & 2008. Both teams brought back an impressive array of medals and have been the most successful GB teams to ever compete abroad. |
